When the Frogs Begin to Sing

After the rice planting is finished and the fields are filled with water, the nights around Kakurekura begin to change.

As darkness settles over the countryside, the sound of frogs slowly fills the air.

At first, it seems distant.

Then, before you realize it, the entire night is wrapped in their chorus.

The rainy season will arrive soon.

While many people think of rain as something to avoid, this season brings its own quiet beauty.

Sit on the terrace, look out over the dark rice fields, and simply listen.

Nothing special is happening.

Yet being surrounded by the sounds of nature feels surprisingly calming — and perhaps a little nostalgic.

A small seasonal moment that can only be found here, in the countryside of northern Shiga.
