Sea of clouds-like fog

This winter, we’ve been encountering scenes that feel a little mysterious.

Just a short while after sunset, a gentle mist began to drift above the snow-covered rice fields.

The satoyama hills appeared as if they were rising above the clouds, and when we stepped back to take it all in, the white of the snow blended seamlessly with the mist—making Kakurekura look as though it were floating in a sea of clouds.

Perhaps it was the temperature hovering just above freezing, or the slightly moist winter air resting over the snow.Whatever the reason, all the conditions aligned to create this fleeting moment.

Even in the same place, even in the same season, the scenery is never quite the same.

The satoyama around Kakurekura continues to reveal different expressions, one moment at a time.

This winter as well, we quietly look forward to asking ourselves,“What kind of view will today bring?”
