In the northern part of Lake Biwa, there are several scenic spots that attract many visitors during autumn.Among them, one of the most beloved is Keisokuji Temple, famous for its breathtaking “carpet of red maple leaves.”

The stone approach leading to the temple is covered entirely by fallen maples, turning the ground into a deep, vivid red.A little farther away, you can also find a beautiful “golden carpet” of ginkgo leaves — two different expressions of autumn, each with its own charm.

Keisokuji is about a 25-minute drive from Kakurekura. It sits on the opposite side from the Metasequoia Avenue, making both places easy to visit during the same trip.

While spending quiet time in the countryside,it’s the perfect distance for a gentle side trip —when you feel like “Let’s go for a little drive.”

For a peaceful morning walk. For a short detour before check-in or after check-out.Almost like taking a small journey within your journey.

I hope you’ll enjoy the colors of autumn in this tranquil corner of Shiga.
