🌙 New Year’s Eve — A Winter Evening in the Countryside

Spend the last evening of the year at your own pace in a quiet rural setting.

If the weather allows, sit outside by the fire, enjoy a barbecue, o

r simply spend some time beneath the winter sky.

It may be cold, but that is part of the season.

Then return to the warmth of the kura and enjoy a slower kind of New Year’s Eve.

🍱 New Year’s Morning — Mini Osechi & Ozoni by the Irori Hearth

On the first morning of the new year, join us by the traditional irori hearth, a sunken Japanese hearth in the main house next to the kura.

Enjoy a small osechi breakfast and homemade ozoni soup, while warming mochi by the fire.

Osechi and ozoni have long been part of New Year’s mornings in Japan, and remain part of everyday family traditions today.

On the first morning of 2027, enjoy a quiet Japanese New Year at Kakurekura.
